Seller states:

1936 Ford Cabriolet Custom For your consideration, I have listed here a true work of art.

This is the result of years and years of thinking, studying, planning, and finally constructing what the owner felt was the perfect late ’30′s fat fendered Ford custom.

Inspired by the work of Harry Westergard, the owner liked the lines of a ’36 Ford, but felt it to be too short for that long, low look.

He also felt the trunk lid on a ’36 looked lost in the rear body.

The solution: graft a ’40 Ford rear clip to the ’36 cab cowl and doors.

The bodies were grafted at the door post, but the wrap around upper body panel was left from the ’36, allowing for the use of ’36 top irons.

This stretched the wheelbase approxiamately 4-5″ and cleaned the trunk area up with the nicer lines of the ’40.

That fulfilled the “long”, now for the “low”.

The body is sectioned over the chassis to bring it closer to earth, and the rockers are reworked to eliminate the running boards.

Then the front fenders were peaked at the back, and moved upward towards the hood to line up with the rockers.

In order to accomplish this, the hood sides as well as the grill had to be sectioned.

The hood tops were combined and hinged at the rear.

The fronts of the rear fenders were also reworked to elinimate the running boards, and a pair of custom stone guards were fabricated and installed.

Finally the whole body was massaged and painted with PPG basecoat/clearcoat urethane and color sanded and polished to perfection.

All that is placed on a custom, tubular chassis with a Heidt’s Superide independent front suspension, Corvette independent rear, and power 4 wheel disc brakes.

The engine is a crate unit from Street and Performance.

It is a 350 TPI, chromed and polished everywhere.

Transmission is a 700R4 with a Lokar shifter.

Interior ammenities include a Glide Engineering seat, Vintage Air, Flaming River tilt column, Vintage Air, and leather upholstery.

This car is not only gorgeous, it works.

Starts, runs, stops, steers and drives fantastic.

It is quiet, tight, smooth, comfortable and reliable.

I am selling this car for the owner due to age and an over-abundance of cars.

It’s time to “thin the heard” as he says.

Below is a list of specs.

Feel free to contact me if there’s anything you’d like to know that I haven’t listed.

Seller states:

The perfect gift for that special, hard to shop for person ( YOU )…..

I am re listing due to a bidder who can not follow through. You are viewing a mint 1947 Desoto.

I bought this car from a collector in VA and I have $40,000.00 worth of receipts.

It has 113,000 original miles.

It has all original tight king pins, ball joints, transmission and engine.

This car has the famous fluid drive and it works perfectly.

The engine runs beautiful but dose burn and leak a little oil.

It sports new tires, new brakes, new battery, new water pump and new radiator.

Some other things done: new base clear paint on a perfectly straight rust free body, new highlander interior, head liner, carpets and chrome.

I drove it home on 95 from VA to NY in 90 degree heat with no problems.

This car runs as smooth and straight down the road as it did in 1947.

The car is still in Forestport NY 13338.

Please don’t bid if you don’t intend or are not able to complete the transaction.

Please don’t bid without contacting me if you have little or bad feedback.

You won’t be disappointed with this beautiful automobile.

I reserve the right to end the auction early.

I will conceder quality trades.

No Projects! I will help you with the shipping if you desire.

Seller states:

Here is my Wife’s 1949 Mercury Kustom , she bought this car in 2000 and has owed it the last 12 years, we though we would own this car forever , but economic hard times has forced us to sell, Car was built in 1988 by Scott Spellburg, from PSM body shop in New York.

His friend Mack ( don’t know last name ) helped on the car, it was painted using House Of Kolor paint, scallops have a silver base coat, and rest of car has a gold base coat, then covered with Brandywine base, then cleared, making the scallops disappear at different angles .Top was chopped 3 ½ inches .

door handles and all locks were shaved, hood was rounded, and had 84 louvers added.

The B pillars were laid back.

Gas door was filled in and moved to the inside of the trunk.

The tail lights and head lights are frenched the rear are 57 Cadillac ,and the head lights are Tri bar blue dots.

The grill is 1954 Desoto.

It has a pair of dummy spots, but lake pipes are working pipes.

Car has 4 frenched antennas, (2 on each front fender( but only 2 are working antennas).

And a set of purple neon lights under the car.

Car has power windows, and vintage air, 5 way power seats, ( from a late model Pontiac Bonneville) and VDO gauges.

Car still has 49 mercury frame under it and is not bagged, it dose have air shocks on back that are pumped up by a small compressor in the trunk, with controller in glove box.

Motor is a 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo 305 with a 350 trans.

Motor has a valve cover kit that makes the engine look like a flathead, and also has a duel water outlet so you can have two radiator hoses coming off intake, on top of intake are two Stromberg 97’s,that give the car that old engine look.

Beehive oil canister is for looks only , Car has no power brakes or power steering.

( so don’t try and stop on a dime or turn a sharp circle) but is great to drive.

The car is a show and drive car, we take it to local car shows and cruise ins and on poker runs, and out on Sunday drives.

We do try and make the James Dean Run, in Fairmount Indiana each year .The car has stone and bug chips, because we drive it to events, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

This car is not a 100 point show car, It has been driven for the last 12 years to shows, we don’t trailer it , it dose have stone chips and bug rash, and body work is showing through in some places , and one fender skirt is bent ( but no one seams to notice) but if you are looking to win at local shows, and draw a crowed where ever you go ,this is it.

When you go to a gas stations to fill up, you will be there longer then you plan ,people need to look and ask question .You will get thumbs up as you drive to shows, or on cruises .

Ask all questions before bidding, and thanks for looking.

Car must be picked up in Decatur, Indiana.

Car is be sold as is, and no warranty is implied .

I ask that if car sells, winning bidder send 2000.00 to my paypal account within 2 days, and balance to be paid at pick up.

Cash is king.

Thanks for looking.

Pictures were taken last summer. On Jan-31-12 at 09:01:11 PST, seller added the following information: First, thanks for asking questions, I have had over 58.

This helps jog my memory, or makes me get off my butt and go look at car.

Things that have come up on car , a/c needs charged every year, steering has play in it ( told this is a minor adjustment) my wife said carpet needs replaced ( I don’t think so), someone asked about rust, I have not seen any, but with that note ,there are bubbles about the size of a dime under front drivers side windshield, (Will show in pictures) along with other imperfections.

I hope to add pictures today.

Glove box dose have my wifes name and mine painted on it, this can be removed with easy off oven cleaner, but check with painter before you try it.

Please remember this is not a 100 point flawless show car, and dose have flaws, If it where flawless, I would be asking much more for it.

Thanks Troy
