Seller states:

The Constructor:

This car was constructed by the late Ralph Steele of Jasper, Indiana. Ralph was a noted historian and illustrator of military and auto racing action. Prior to constructing this this vintage race car, Ralph built and flew his own airplane… Many of the precision construction techniques and attention to detail necessary to build an airworthy plane are evident in the construction quality of this vintage race car. I purchased the car from Ralph in 2007.

The Chassis:

The chassis is constructed from vintage Ford frame rails (year unknown) and outfitted with Ford Model A running gear, 3-speed transmission, 16″ Ford wire wheels, reconditioned 1928 Franklin steering and manual rear brakes with traditional outside brake lever. Lever action shocks on front, and period correct friction shocks on rear.

The Engine:

The engine is a freshly rebuilt Ford Model B four cylinder with a Thomas finned aluminum cylinder head. The aluminum intake mates to a vintage correct Stromberg 97. The chrome exhaust is custom made and a beautiful piece of workmanship. This engine has less than :30 minutes run in time and is absolutely brand new. Compression is a consistent 120psi in all cylinders. The engine starts easily and runs great. This car carries and on-board starter and mini alternator charging system making it easy to get from paddock to starting grid, or from trailer to show grounds.

The Body:

The body is patterned after the original M.H. Myles body design and was hand crafted from aluminum by Junior Dryer of Indianapolis. Junior’s father Pop Dryer built Indy cars in years gone by. The grill surround is a Henry Ford 1932 grill shell cut down to fit the cars profile. The fit and finish on the body of this car is amazing. The color is white with silver frame chassis and belly pan. The dash board is a piece of artwork… had crafted engine turned aluminum with just the right amount of racing patina. Vintage sprint car steering wheel, offset windscreen, radiator stone guard, hand pump fuel system are all period correct. There is an extra right side engine cover for the car with a large blister to allow for the installation of a magnito.

The Pedigree:

This car was accepted by Ford Motor Company to be on display at Ford Headquarters in Dearborn for the Ford 100 year anniversary. The car participated in the 100 years of Ford Racing and represented Ford racing during the great depression. This car has appeared in several magazines such as Vintage Oval Track, and usually appears in print each time it participates at a vintage race event. I have won the competition class at the only two Regional Ford Only shows I have participated in.

The Extras:

This car comes with a complete set of spares. The car currently has knobby tread dirt tires mounted and comes with a set of asphalt ready rear tires mounted on wheels. Spares include pit tool box, and a complete selection of mechanical spares, including body hardware, engine and drive line components, reference manuals, jack, and electrical spares. I value the extras to be in excess of $500. There are MORE spares that come with this car than those shown in the photo.

The Trailer:

Builder / Owner Ralph Steele was not satisfied with an open trailer to tow his pride and joy. So he kept right on building… he constructed this custom matching trailer. This is a custom built, tandem axle, tilt bed trailer with electric and manual winch.. Tilt bed is electric. Trailer has running lights, electric brakes, ramps, and spare tire. This trailer is small enough to park in a standard garage stall. I value the trailer in excess of $3,500.

The Package:

All you will need to go vintage exhibition racing is a helmet, drivers suit, and some gasoline.

All you will need to hit the show circuit is some shelf space on your trophy shelf.

All you will need to display this car in your museum or collection is some floor space.
