PEERLESS GT2
VEHICLE HISTORY: The current owners purchased this rare British GT car in 1999 from a widow in Delaware. Her husband purchased it in 1987, after it had gone through a cosmetic restoration, which included the installation of a roll bar. He installed a racing harness, and a VSCCA log book documents a couple of East Coast vintage races.
Initially the current owners took turns driving this Peerless casually and for fun as a summer sports car. They displayed it at British Car Days, where it always got lots of attention. They even did some Rally Tours with the car. But these owners are avid vintage racers, with a half-dozen race cars in competition. Soon the Peerless ended up in long term storage. Now they are loosing some of their storage, and selling the Peerless will free up some storage space for their race cars. In addition, it will provide an opportunity for a new caretaker to bring this rare car back to life. The body and interior are nice enough, but it needs some mechanical work (see inspection report).
MARQUE HISTORY: The Peerless GT is one of the more intriguing British low volume performance cars built in the 1950s. With its Triumph running gear, rectangular tubing space frame, DeDion rear axle, fastback fiberglass body, and room for four people it was billed as the “sports car for the family man”. The factory raced one at LeMans in 1958 finishing 1st in Class and 16th Overall. Quite an accomplishment for a small start-up company! Typical of these low volume companies, the finances did not hold out and only 325 were ever built between 1958 and 1959. For more history and information check these websites:

VEHICLE CONDITION:
We do a mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale. This report is included below will provide a reasonable description of the vehicle condition. Older vehicles are subject to normal wear and tear and we have tried to indicate the overall condition of the vehicle to the best of our ability. But, we can not always find everything that is not perfect with a vehicle, so independent inspections are welcome and encouraged.
This Peerless is operational (it starts and runs and shifts OK), but it has just come out of long term storage and has not been driven any distance for quite some time. As such some seals and gaskets are failing and will certainly need some mechanical work to be truly road worthy again. See the following Inspection Report.
